A police officer on routine patrol stopped a driver for a traffic violation and ended up making a felony drug arrest.

44-Year old Shawn Vanetten of Proctor Boulevard in Utica was pulled over on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at about 1:00pm.

The officer said that Vanetten gave him conflicting information and, when his license was run, determined that it had been suspended.

Further investigation revealed that the man was allegedly in possession of two bags containing a total of 2.2 grams of cocaine.

Vanetten was taken into custody and ticketed by Utica Police.  He is being charged with driving without a valid license, and two counts (one misdemeanor, one felony) of drug possession.
