Utica Woman Killed in Hit and Run Accident

State Police have released the name of the pedestrian who was killed in a hit and run accident in the Town of Herkimer.

Police say 22-year old Kaitlyn McCloskey of Utica was struck while walking along Route 5 last night.

They say the driver of the vehicle, 31-year old Shararhonda Hall of Ilion, told investigators she believed that she did hit something, but did not realize it was a person.

She said she immediately turned back and didn't see the victim laying on the shoulder of the roadway.

Hall went back to her home, where she contacted 911 to report the incident.

She's been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
