Sitrin STARS athlete Hermin Garic of Utica competed in his first Boston Marathon today.

Garic finished in 24th place overall in the Men's Open Wheelchair Division and 32nd overall in a time of 1.39:38.

Garic is a two-time winner of the Miami Marathon's Push Rim Division.

38-year old Edna Kiplagat of Kenya, who set the women's Boilermaker course record in 2010, was the winner in the Women's Dvision at the 2017 Boston Marathon today.

Kiplagat finished in a time of 2.21:53

Kathrine Switzer -- who became the first woman to run the Boston Marathon 50 years ago -- ran in today's race, wearing the same bib number she wore in 1967.

It was her first time running the Boston Marathon since 1976 and her first marathon since 2011.  The 70-year old Switzer finished in a time of 4.44:31, good for eighth in the women's 70 to 74 age group.

Switzer is a member of the National Distance Running Hall of Fame and is part of WIBX's Boilermaker coverage.
