TROY, N.Y. (AP) — Hundreds of high school students are expected to take part in a robot-building competition at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Twenty-two teams are expected to compete at RPI on Saturday in the annual First Robotics Competition, which is held in multiple cities. Students must build robots in response to specific challenges from organizers. This year's theme is Destination: Deep Space.

Another round of the competition will be held at RPI on March 6-9.

The championship round will be held in Detroit in April.
