Vernon, NY (WIBX) - Two men were in such a hurry to leave the parking lot of a restaurant in Vernon that the driver allegedly drove straight into oncoming traffic.

31-Year old Ruben Gonzalez of Honduras was leaving Pedro's Restaurant when he drove out of the parking lot without yielding. His car was struck by passing traffic, causing him to lose control of his car.

He then slammed into the store front of Vernon Wine and Spirits. After the car came to a stop Gonzalez and his passenger fled the scene.

Oneida County Sheriffs caught up with Gonzalez and 28-year old Carlos Salala of Guatemala.

Gonzalez was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.   There were no reports of injuries.
