Rome, NY (WIBX) - It's Official! The Honor America Days Committee of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, made its musical selection for the upcoming Fort Stanwix Concert. Committee Chairman, Jacqueline M. Izzo says it was a competitive bidding process. "We spoke to 6 different musical groups, we actually had 4 bids, and our choice is Symphony Syracuse Inc., which is the musicians of the Syracuse Symphony who are reforming a new organization called Syracuse Symphony Inc.," Izzo said.

The Honor America Days Concert is planned for July 30th at 8:00 p.m, at Fort Stanwix National Monument, and organizers say it will feature a medley of great music including the George M. Cohan Series, Sound of Music, Armed Forces Medley and the 1812 Overture, and Stars and Stripes. The Artistic Director and Conductor will be Grant Cooper.  Izzo says one factor that went in favor of the musical group was their rain date availability. She says some of the other musical bids were not able to provide a rain date and that's an important planning factor.

The theme for this year's parade is, "A look Back At Rome In The 60s." Izzo says depending on the committee's fundraising success, there will be another surprise in line with this year's theme, but that announcement is planned for June.
