Boy these NFL games are often tough to watch. And, tougher by the game.

The New York Giants' secondary was flagged for a hit on a defenseless receiver Sunday on a play that should have forced a fourth down and ended a drive.

Safety Landon Collins nearly intercepted a Cam Newton pass, leaving his feet and lunging to into the air to make the play. While in the air, playing the ball, and not even looking in the direction of the receiver, Collins and Panthers receiver Devin Funchess, who was also attempting to make a play on the ball, collided.

Their helmets did make some contact, but again Collins was making a play on the receiver, he was looking the other way - playing the ball. This was merely incidental contact between two players attempting to catch the ball.

Another brutal penalty flagged on what should be a routine football play as Carolina wound up converting the free first down into a touchdown to extend their lead to 27-16.
