The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a hot air balloon carrying three people landed too close to a set of power lines, causing a short power outage in the Town of Augusta.

It happened Monday night near the intersection of Spencer and Perry Shumaker Roads.

Deputies say Kimberly Field, the pilot and owner of Royalty Ballooning in Munnsville, experienced a mechanical issue that forced her to land the balloon basket short of her desired location.

After the basket touched down on the ground safely, the balloon section draped over the power lines, causing the outage.  No one as injured.

The FAA will be investigating the incident at a later date.
