We have received preliminary reports of remains being found in Little Falls.

Wednesday afternoon New York state police as well as local authorities have begun an investigation at a home on Flint Ave. in the City of Little Falls.

Area residents tell us they observed a Herkimer County Coroner's vehicle on the scene.

While it's too early to determine what has happened in the case, an NYSP investigator will be releasing more information either later tonight or Thursday morning.

10:22 p.m. - State Police and LIttle Falls Police are confirming that human remains have been found behind a home located at 59 Flint Avenue.

Officials say it's still too early to determine whether the remains are male or female, but an autopsy will be completed.

The investigation is ongoing. Those with information are asked to call State Police at (315) 366-6000.

Update 5/2 (1:23 p.m.) - The human remains found behind a home on Flynt Avenue in Little Falls may be an elderly man who has not been seen since between 2004 and 2006.

State Police say the man was last being cared for by others in the area.

Police say the scene is still being processed, but an autopsy may be completed today.
