Hang onto your hats. The remnants of Hurricane Patricia, the strongest on record in the Western Hemisphere, may have hit Mexico but it's going to affect Central New York. Most of the region will not only see rain, but wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory today and National Grid has people on standby for possible power outages.

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 2 AM THURSDAY

* LOCATIONS...The Finger Lakes, Southern Tug Hill, Western Mohawk Valley, upper Susquehanna region, portions of the Western Catskills

* WINDS...15 TO 30 MPH, with gusts of 45 to 55 MPH.

* TIMING...Persistent strong gusty winds expected from midday through early evening. From roughly 9 PM to 2 AM, a line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will push eastward across the region with wind gust of 50 MPH.

* IMPACTS...Damage to trees and power lines could occur which may result in sporadic power outages.
