Hurricane Sandy Hits New York City [PHOTOS]
As Hurricane Sandy continues its path toward Upstate NY and the Mohawk Valley, those living in New York City are documenting the event on Twitter and Facebook.
These pictures were taken by those living in New York City.
Christopher Cooper shot this photo of empty shelves in NYC prior to Sandy hitting shore. People stocked up on water, bread and batteries, among other essentials.
Cooper also took this screenshot on his phone of an emergency warning sent out to City residents.
Danielle Dupree also lives in NYC. She took this photo of some fallen tree limbs in her neighborhood.
The damage became more severe as the night wore on, as evidenced in this photo taken by Kayla Riley.
The Empire State Building remains lit, even though it's surrounded by the darkness.
This photo taken by Marcus Yam is of the Van Wyck Expressway, which runs through Queens and Bronx counties.
Even Governor Andrew Cuomo posted a photo. This is of city workers moving supplies.
And finally, we're not sure if this is true or not, but one Tweeter posted a photo of a shark swimming around in his New Jersey neighborhood? Is it real? We'll let you judge.
