Albany, NY (WIBX) - A decision on whether to allow hydrofracking in New York  State could come over the holidays.

Deputy Senate Majority Leader Thomas Libous tells the "New York Post" the ongoing state study into the controversial drilling process will be completed before January 1st.

He's hopeful Governor Andrew Cuomo will call for a final decision before the new year.

Officials with the Cuomo administration tell the "Post" such a decision probably won't happen until mid-January at the earliest due to a fairly new study on the potential health impact of hydrofracking.
