As car manufactures look to offer new safety features in their latest models, the Nissan Motor Company continues to break ground with its Safety Shield Technology. That is, it monitors what's going on outside the vehicle to help keep you safe and out of accidents.

Among Nissan's many safety features, I'd like to highlight a few that I love:

  • The Around View Monitor offers a bird's-eye view of your Nissan and displays it on the LCD monitor, so parking and backing-up are both safer and easier.
  • Lane Departure Warning uses audio and visual alerts when you unintentionally stray from you lane
  • Blind Spot Warning System detects a vehicle in your blind and offers an audio warning when your turn signal is activated to turn toward a vehicle which may be out of your view
  • The RearView Monitor (One of my favorites) projects into your dash what is directly behind your vehicle when it is in reverse

Additionally, Nissan offers advanced safety devices in case you are in an accident. They include:

  • Front seat side impact air bags
  • Roof mounted side impact supplemental air bags
  • Active head restraints to reduce the chances of whiplash in a crash
  • The LATCH System allows you to secure compatible child restraints without the use of seat belts or locking chips.
