Raul Ibanez had a pair of home runs and Ivan Nova got back on the winning track as the Yankees beat the Ray 5-3 at Yankee Stadium in the first of a three game set.

Ibanez's two run shot in the first and solo-blast in the seventh were his fourth and fifth of the year.

Nova improved to 4-1 with seven innings of six-hit, two-run ball. He stuck out eight Rays in his first appearance since a loss his last time out which snapped a streak of 15 consecutive wins.

David Robertson made it through the ninth without allowing a run to earn his first save, but only after a hit and two walks.

James Shields (5-1) was dealt his first loss with six innings of three-run ball.
