Rome, NY (WIBX) - State Assembly candidate Anthony Brinidisi says if he's elected, he'll open a satellite office in Rome.

The 116th district seat, recently vacated by RoAnn Destito, covers Utica, Rome, Whitestown, Marcy and Floyd.

Brindisi says the local Assembly represenative has a presence in the State Office Building on Genesee Street in Utica. But, to properly serve the entire district, Brinidisi he'll have an office in Rome.

Brindisi, a Democrat, will run against Republican Greg Johnson later this year to fill the vacancy.

When the election will happen is still undetermined. Governor Cuomo is expected to call for a special election sometime this summer, however, some local officials are asking that the special election be delayed until November as a way to save tax dollars.
