Get ready to starting putting Swedish furniture together. The furniture giant is looking a a new location near Rochester, according to the Democrat and Chronicle.  The newspaper reported on Friday that IKEA is scouting out locations in and around Henrietta, near Rochester.  Currently the closest locations to the Greater Utica area are located in Massachusetts, New Jersey and near Toronto.

IKEA stores are large warehouse furniture stores filled with discount furniture ideal for students and smaller homes and apartments.  According to their website, the IKEA concept is unique.

The IKEA Concept starts with the idea of providing a range of home furnishing products that are affordable to the many people, not just the few. It is achieved by combining function, quality, design and value - always with sustainability in mind. The IKEA Concept exists in every part of our company, from design, sourcing, packing and distributing through to our business model. Our aim is to help more people live a better life at home.

If you have a student heading off to college next year, don't get too excited. It generally takes quite a while for IKEA to open stores after they've selected a location.  According to the Democrat and Chronicle, stores that have recently been announced as new locations won't open until 2019 or 2020.
