Ilion Man Facing Sexual Abuse Charges

An Ilion man has been arrested on sexual abuse charges after a four-month investigation by Ilion Police.

40-year old Ralph Smith is facing several charges, including criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say the victim was under the age of 15 at the time of the alleged crimes.

An order of protection has been issued on behalf of the victim.

Ilion Police were assisted in their investigation by members of Herkimer County Child Protective Services, the YWCA of Herkimer County Child Advocacy Center and the Herkimer County District Attorney's Office.
