West Seneca's Noah Thompson was in cruise control from much of the night, keeping Ilion Post off balance and off the base paths leading his team to a 7-2 win on Wednesday night.

Thompson, though, finally ran out of gas in the ninth inning. After retiring the first two batters, Ilion's Ryan Fahy collected his second hit of the night - the team's only hits of the game. Thompson then walked the next three Ilion Post batters, forcing in a run before he was pulled for the game.

Ryan Keating came in to get the game's final out, moving West Seneca to 2-0 in the state American Legion baseball tournament and dropping Ilion Post to 0-2.

Thompson outdueled Ilion's Kobe Jackson - who tossed seven innings, allowing three earned runs, walking four while striking out six.

West Seneca's Matthew Schneider drove in four runs while center fielder Joseph Milkowski had three hits and a run scored. Right fielder Matthew Sokolski added an RBI-triple, nearly taking Jackson deep, banging one off the the wall in left-center field.

Thompson's final line was 8 and 2/3 innings, two runs (one earned) on two hits, six walks and eight strikeouts as West Seneca moved to 29-1 on the season.

Ilion Post has one final tournament game left Thursday night (8pm vs. Clinton County), but neither will be able to advance to the semifinals.

West Seneca will play Brooks Sheppard at noon Thursday. Both are 2-0.
