A few days ago, in a galaxy not that far away, Maxwell DeLorm of Munnsville, New York created a Star Wars themed Christmas lights display.

The TIE Fighter is made up of PVC pipe, chicken wire and 9,900 Christmas lights. Where do you find that many light? "First you buy out the lights at Lowe's in New Hartford. Then you go to Oneida and buy out that one too," explains DeLorm.

It's had a quarter of a million hits on Imgur and became the #1 image on Chive worldwide with 2 million views

After the shopping expedition, DeLorm who is an ER nurse and not a construction guy, found some plans to build the TIE Fighter. "The blue prints are from a toy. We just converted centimeters to feet."

The conversion worked until Mother Nature blew it over in a huge wind storm. "The one guy who said 'shouldn't we secure it in the back where the north wind comes from.' Then the other 3 guys say 'no it'll be fine.' That one guy got the final laugh," chuckles DeLorm.

A few tumbles and a few people falling off ladders later, the display went together the second time in a few days instead of a few weeks.

DeLorm posted his creation on Facebook and says it quickly went viral. "It's had a quarter of a million hits on Imgur and became the #1 image on Chive worldwide with 2 million views."

DeLorm promises to have the display back up Friday. You can see it at 5230 Freeman Rd. in Munnsville.
