A comedian from India has a message for students who are struggling with exams.

On his Twitter page, Bollywood actor and funny man Vir Das describes himself as a "Comedian/Actor/Jester/PajamaWearer/Singer/MarieBiscuitLover/BulldogEnthusiast/ SherlockHolmesFanGirl/DogsBollocks."  Another title he can add to that is "educator."

The 36-year-old recently released a video about tests, specifically their importance.  And with the debate swirling in the United States about Common Core standards and educational testing, the video's message extends beyond the borders of his homeland.

On his YouTube page Das says the following in the video's description:

"I wrote this for all those kids and parents out there who are waiting for the dreaded Board Exam results. Hope you enjoy it. It's a little slice of life in 3 minutes. All the very best for your future :-)
Vir"

Although it was originally intended for those in India, the feeling of worry and stress that accompanies tests and exams is felt by students the world over.  Cognizant that in the final analysis those results mean little when compared to everything else life has to offer, Vir Das' suggestion to worry less about exam results resonates with many.  The comedian is not promoting a disregard for the tests or the process, but is instead attempting to alleviate some of the anxiety associated with them.

Explaining many of the vastly different experiences that high school graduates will eventually have, Das asks what they all have in common.  "Not one of them...," he says while holding up a "marksheet" with grades or test results, "...requires one of these."   He triumphs the case of merits over marks.  Although some may question the choice of experiences that he chooses to highlight, there are few who can make a good case against his.

Lest anyone dismiss a comedian's opinion on testing and stress, it may be important to mention that Das received a degree from Knox College in Iowa before he went on to become a graduate student at Harvard University.

Note that the video makes mention of subject matter that may not be appropriate for younger viewers, so adults are advised to view it first before deciding whether or not it is suitable for their young ones.
