An IndyCar driver was airlifted to a hospital where he was last listed in a coma and in critical condition after being hit with crash debris on Sunday.

Justin Wilson was hit with debris after fellow driver Sage Karam crashed into a wall, sending debris flying during yesterday's ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Speedway in Pennsylvania.

WIlson, who is British, resides in Colorado with his family.

While all have acknowledged that it is an unfortunate but inherent risk involved with open cockpit racing, ESPN NASCAR reporter Ryan McGee said, "Something will happen from this...and we hope...that Justin Wilson is ok to see that happen."

Wilson is being evaluated at a hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  No additional information on his condition has been released.
