State Police investigators believe the two escaped killers in northern New York spent time at a cabin just 20 miles from the prison where they escaped from.

Speaking to reporters, State Police spokesman Major Charles Guess said they've recovered evidence from a cabin near the town of Owls Head that leads them to believe Richard Matt and David Sweat were there.  He wouldn't confirm reports that DNA evidence was found.

Guess also said they've declared an area of Allegany County clear after a possible sighting of the two inmates.

Matt and Sweat have been on the run since escaping from the Clinton Correctional Facility more than two weeks ago.
