KINGS PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Fire officials on Long Island are investigating a blaze that destroyed part of an old psychiatric center.

Newsday reports (http://nwsdy.li/2mavXWX) that the Suffolk County Arson Squad has opened a probe into the fire that destroyed a vacant home on the Kings Park Psychiatric Center property early Sunday.

The facility closed in 1996. The land is now home to Nissequogue (NIHS'-uh-kwahg) River State Park.

Officials say the blaze took four hours to contain because there were no working fire hydrants near the site. Investigators say the vacant cottage was badly damaged.

Officials say crews were called out to the park several times in recent years to contain fires started by teenagers.

There were no reported injuries. Investigators say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
