The City of Rome is releasing the results of a Community Needs Assessment survey.

The project was a collaborative effort involving the Department of Housing and Urban Development and community partners.  Rome was one of only five municipalities in New York selected by HUD to conduct a CNA initiative.

Mayor Jacqueline Izzo says the CNA survey results led to the framework for a two-year action plan.  Izzo says the action plan will help drive the city's Community Development Block Grant initiatives for the next two years.

Six goals were developed for the city:

  • Expand Employment Opportunities
  • Increase Economic Activity
  • Raise Educational Achievement
  • Enhance Local Arts, Cultural and Tourism Opportunities
  • Improve Access To Health and Wellness Programs
  • Provide Enhanced Housing Opportunities
