Holding the Raiders to under 160 combined yards of offense, the New York Jets' defense proved too much for rookie QB Derek Carr to figure out in his debut as Gang Green opened its season with a 19-14 win at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Chris Ivory had just 10 carries, but tallied 102 yards thanks in large part to a late 71-yard score to seal the game. Geno Smith passed for 221 yards and hooked up with starting running back Chris Johnson on a 5-yard TD flip before half to get the Jets (1-0) a lead at the break.

Eric Dekker led New York's receivers with five grabs and 74 yards.

Carr had a pair of touchdown passes in his first NFL game but was held to 151 yards on 20-32 attempts for Oakland (0-1).
