Albany, NY (WIBX) - The jury is still out on whether an Albany event will set a Guinness World Record, but Recordsetter is prepared to witness history in the making just for the fun of it.

On this, the twelfth day of the twelfth month of the twelfth year in this millennium at 12:12pm of course, the largest group of people will assemble in front of the Times Union Center on South Pearl Street to ring jingle bells.  They will be singing "Jingle Bells" while ringing as well.

Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings will be there along with Santa Claus.  Once the record is set it will join the other notable jinglings listed on Recordsetter.com.

James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893), who wrote "Jingle Bells" in Massachusetts and first published it as "One Horse Open Sleigh," would be proud.

Not in Albany?  Other groups are prompting the Twelve Minutes of Peace and Meditation today, asking everyone to observe twelve minutes of silence and consideration beginning at noon today.
