Utica, NY (WIBX) - Johnson Park Center is embarking on a week long celebration, marking 16-years of serving the disadvantaged in our community. CEO and Founder of the Johnson Park Center, Reverend Dr. Maria A. Scates says on top of the week long celebrations, there are other positive changes underway.

She said next week Thursday at Noon there will be a Homeless Housing Coalition Assistance Meeting in Johnson Park. "And this is really going to be a wonderful event because we are going to be doing our construction kick-off ceremony for two new properties that we're renovating here at Johnson Park," she said. The 8 unit properties are being developed for homeless women with special needs. Rev. Scates said, "And what's so exciting about this project is that these buildings are going to be certified LEED Green. So, we're really excited about that--we're going to have geothermal and solar panels, you name it, it will all be there."

The celebration, which kick off on Monday July 28th and run until Monday August 1st, is open and free for all to attend in Johnson Park located in Cornhill-Utica. The events and festivities will include free food and an array of activities.
