6 AM Hour

The big news of the day is - unfortunately - the massacre in Orlando.  We continue to discuss the case this morning.

-

We speak with Lisa Noll, an LGBT activist, about the shooting.  She says that it was Hispanic night at the Orlando gay nightclub when Omar Mateen opened fire, killing at least fifty people and injuring 53 others.  She says that they lifted the ban on gay men giving blood this weekend.

-

Counterterrorism expert Princella Smith joins us to talk about the politics of terrorism, or what should not be the politics of this weekend's tragedy.  She says that officials should have known about Omar Mateen's potential for doing harm based on his online practices.  Of our intelligence system, she says, "We need to step it up."

-

Peter Franklin, the Gabby Cabby, shares how New York City is dealing with the tragedy in Orlando.
