Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Utica Fire Marshal has ruled the fire at Kennedy Plaza Apartments on November 22 was "intentionally ignited".

Last month's fire left a security officer with second degree burns to his face and hands and caused 197 residents to be evacuated.

Fire Marshal Lt. Robert Stephens says the fire originated in a wood and plastic framed room constructed by an asbestos removal company that was working on the building.

Police and fire investigators are sill interviewing residents of the apartment complex for more details.
