Kraft Foods is voluntarily recalling hundreds of thousands of boxes of one of its most popular products.

The company says that some packages of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese dinners may contain pieces of metal.

The recall affects approximately 242, 000 cases of the 7.25-oz. size of the original flavor Kraft Macaroni and Cheese dinners.  The "Best When Used By" dates on affected boxes are listed as September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015, with the code "C2" directly below the date on each individual box.

Boxes sold in multi-pack units may have different codes.  The affected boxes may include:

  • 7.25 oz. box
  • three-pack of 7.25 oz. boxes
  • four-pack of shrink-wrapped 7.25 oz. boxes
  • five-pack of shrink-wrapped 7.25 oz. boxes

In a written statement Kraft says that, as of this posting, the company has received calls from about eight customers  No injuries have been reported.

Customers are being told not to eat the product and to return it to the store for an exchange or refund. Anyone with questions can contact Kraft Foods Consumer Relations at: (800) 816.9432 between 9:00am and 6:00pm ET for a full refund.
