Laid Off Orion Workers To Be Taught New Skills
Oriskany, NY (WIBX) - New York State will use more than $812,000 in federal grants to retrain 270 workers laid off at the Orion Bus plant in Oriskany.
Governor Andrew Cuomo says the funding should help those out of work train for new jobs in emerging fields that have the potential for growth.
Cuomo says the state is committed to assist the workers in obtaining comprehensive hands-on training in occupations that are in demand.
The layoffs at the plant began last month and will continue through next March.
