ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — An out-of-town landlord has admitted draining the bank account of an Albany tenant who had suffered a stroke.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares says 55-year-old Edward Thomas of New York City pleaded guilty to grand larceny and forgery on Wednesday. Prosecutors say Thomas stole checks from the victim, forged signatures and cashed the checks over the course of several months last year.

Thomas faces 2-6 years in state prison and has to pay restitution of over $31,000 to the victim. He'll be sentenced on Nov. 30.
