Students at a memorial for a slain New York college business major say he was a happy and driven would-be entrepreneur.

Police say 19-year-old Ithaca College sophomore Anthony Nazaire was stabbed during a series of fights that broke out early Sunday as hundreds of people left a party at Cornell University's student union. No suspects have been named.

Two students turned their tributes for Nazaire into song at a piano at his memorial Monday. One sang condolences to Nazaire's family in New York City.

Ithaca College President Tom Rochon tearfully described how Nazaire's mother dropped him off at college and helped him unpack his belongings, only to return nine days later to take everything back home.

Hundreds of students filled the college chapel to capacity and spilled out onto the lawn, where the service was broadcast over speakers.

The sister of an Ithaca College student fatally stabbed during a weekend brawl at Cornell University says her family has returned to Brooklyn with little information from police but confident they'll find Anthony Nazaire's killer.

Kiara Nazaire fought back tears outside the family's apartment Monday as she said she knows investigators will "make sure Anthony is at peace."

Police say a series of fights broke out as hundreds of people left a party at Cornell's student union at about 2 a.m. Sunday. They haven't said what touched off the melee.

Nazaire was attacked along with a fellow Ithaca student who survived with minor injuries.

Kiara Nazaire says that friend, who hasn't been identified, told her that her brother was stabbed trying to get him away from a confrontation with their assailant.
