ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Lawmakers in New York are considering legislation to allow victims to sue over revenge porn.

It's already against the law in New York to release or publish nude or explicit photos of a person without their permission. The new bill would create a cause of action to allow victims to seek civil damages and seek injunctions to block the release of such photos.

The bill would also allow plaintiffs to file suits under a pseudonym.

The legislation is pending in both the Senate and Assembly but has not been scheduled for a vote.

Supporters have scheduled a press conference on the bill Wednesday in Albany.
