Leadership Mohawk Valley is celebrating their 25th anniversary by launching 'LMV Serves,' an initiative where members will  pledge of 2,500 hours of community service from now until the end of June 2015.

Recent LMV events like TEDxUtica and the First Lego League competitions have totaled nearly 900 volunteer hours already with strong participation from LMV alumni.

“Our organization is comprised of leaders who have used their year in the LMV program as a springboard into the development of our region," said LMV Executive Director Ann Rushlo. "Organizations such as the United Way find that many of their Board and Committee members are LMV alumni.   LMV Serves recognizes our alumni in action giving back to the community through volunteerism”.

All current LMV class members and alumni can help reach the goal by logging your volunteer hours on the Leadership Mohawk Valley website.

Also available on the LMV website is a form to request temporary tattoos to wear during volunteer experiences and LMV is encouraging volunteers to share pictures and updates on their Facebook pages.

“We have partnered today with Mohawk Valley Regional Volunteer Center and the United Way to remind our alumni and the community that there are many people and organizations who need our help over the holidays,” said LMV 25th Anniversary Committee co-chair Mary Rizzo-Bonney.  “Alumni can pledge any of their volunteer hours to LMV Serves, whether it is their board service, participating in a fundraiser or helping to feed those in need.  Part of the LMV experience is learning about our community and challenging ourselves to make it even better”.

Formed in 1990, Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV) is committed to the growth and development of individuals as effective leaders to the benefit of self, organization and community.  LMV will also hold a Gala in the spring to commemorate the founding of the organization and hold and ‘Experience the Mohawk Valley’ Raffle to raise money for their Scholarship Fund and awareness of the attractions and retailers in the region.  Please contact the LMV office at 315-792-7551 for more information.
