$3.5 million in federal funding will allow the Town of Lenox to bring clean drinking water to hundreds in Madison County.

The grant and low-interest loan will finance the construction of a ten-mile water pipeline to deliver water to Lenox residents via the Onondaga County Water Authority.

The water supply for about half of the homes on the proposed pipeline has tested positive for bacteria.

The funding was announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
