Little Falls Man Charged With Welfare Fraud

A Little Falls man has been arrested following an investigation by the Herkimer County Sheriff's Office Welfare Fraud Unit.

51-year old Robert Sweet is charged with welfare fraud, grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing, all felonies.

Sweet allegedly received over $3,300 in New York State Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits he was not entitled to from June to November of 2013.

He was arraigned at the Town of Herkimer Court and directed to report to the Herkimer County Probation Department for electronic monitoring.
