State Police in Herkimer have arrested Shannon Hardy-Sekel, 27, of E. Jefferson Street Little Falls for two counts of cashing forged checks.
Police say Sekel was cashing checks that belonged to Donald Wichelns, a Little Falls man who was found dead in a dog crate behind a home in Little Falls earlier this year.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into the theft of several years worth of Wichelns' social security benefits and the forging and cashing of checks from his personal bank account.

Sekel was arraigned in the Town of German Flatts Court and sent to the Herkimer County Jail on $10,000 bail.
