New Hartford, NY (WIBX) - A pair of local athletes were recognized for their achievements at the Boilermaker road race this past July.

15-year old Anthony Grieco from Utica and 16-year old Cody Arnold from Syracuse were both recognized by the Sitrin Medical Rehabilitation Center for successfully completing the Boilermaker's Wheelchair Road Race in under 2 hours, 15 minutes.

Both competitors were awarded custom built racing wheelchairs, valued at $2,500 each.

Marc Deperno is the Director of Sitrin's STAR program, he says both teens worked extremely hard participating in the road race. "They're driven, they're motivated, they have great energy, they excelled this past year and now they've got a racing chair and I expect them to see them (compete) for years to come", said Deperno.

The custom built racing chairs were a donation from Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield and Sitrin.
