The Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross came to the aid of six people displaced following a house fire in the City of Utica.

The blaze occurred on Monday afternoon on Morris Street in Utica. Five adults and one infant under the age of 1 were impacted by the fire.

The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing for the individuals. Representatives also provided emotional support and care kits and will continue to be available in the coming days to help with the road to recovery.

Last year, the Red Cross responded to more than 400 home fires and other disasters in the 24-county Eastern NY region.
