Utica, NY (WIBX) - It is the second week in a row with increased gas prices in Central New York.

Triple-A's Ed Welsh says the reason for the inconsistent gas prices is related to the value of the dollar.

"There's a lot of concern, of course, that the markets are going to be effected by the looming economic turmoil that would take place should our credit get downrated or we settle on a debt ceiling by August 2nd," he said.

This week's average price of Regular unleaded gasoline in our area is up four cents at $3.86 a gallon.

That's up $1.03 from a year ago.
