Utica, NY (WIBX) - Several local groups are joining forces to help provide food for veterans, during its "Be One in a Million!" campaign.

In honor of the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, the Mohawk Valley Regional Volunteer Center is honoring the event through charity.

Food donation boxes will be scattered throughout Utica and Rome, with another drop-off point at Herkimer County Community College.

In addition, the group is looking for volunteers to help make care packages for veterans.

People are also encouraged to attend local remembrance ceremonies held in Utica and Herkimer.

7:30 amAnnual Prayer Breakfast hosted by The Genesis Group at Hart’s Hill Inn (Reservations required by contacting Genesis Group at 792-7187)  Donations of non-perishable food will collected.
9:15 amOpening Remembrance Ceremony at 9/11 Memorial on Memorial Pkwy. (across from Sherman Drive), Utica
10:00 am – Remembrance Ceremony at HCCC in Herkimer
9:30 am – 11:30 amService Projects : Collecting, sorting and assembling donated non-perishable food items for veterans.
