Central New York is mourning the loss of an extended family member, as we were saddened to learn that Frieda Noga - the wife of our very own Julian Noga (host of Sunday morning Polanaise with Julian Noga) passed away over the weekend. She was 93.

The couple - married for 68 years - were the focus of the book 'The Courtship of Julian and Frieda' detailing their forbidden love which led their incarceration in separate concentration camps during World War II in Nazi Germany - he at the Flossenburg Camp and she at Ravensbruck, a camp for women and children.

Neither was Jewish, rather their 'crime' was their proscribed love for one another as Freida was the daughter of a wealthy Austrian farmer and he a poor Pole.

Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Myslinkski Funeral Home in Utica. WIBX 950 and our family of radio stations send our deepest condolences to the Noga family.
