Utica, NY (WIBX) - A group of 14 children from Madison County will be joining over 900 others to attend the New York State Sheriffs' Association Institute's 2011 Summer Camp.

The camp is designed to provide the children with new respects for the men and women who enforce our laws.

"The deputies become their friends and in some cases substitute parents for a week," said Sheriff Allen Riley.

At the end of the program, all of the kids will be awarded a diploma for participating in the "Good Citizenship and Law Enforcement Studies" program.
