College and college-bound students have the opportunity to take home a $1,500 scholarship, thanks to the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators.

Four scholarships will be awarded during the group's Annual Legislative Conference Day, on June 10th.

The scholarships are broken down into two academic and two athletic awards.

State Senator, Joe Griffo, says the money will help "local students and their families to meet their required expenses with student loans" and other college costs.

The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is made of both Senate and Assembly members who work to highlight their heritage. They also work to dispel negative stereotypes.

For more information about the scholarships and for a link to the application, e-mail Senator Griffo here or Assemblyman Brindisi, here.

Both offices can also be reached by phone.

Brindisi: (315) 732-1055.
