Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County Branch of the NAACP is looking for a few good young people. Organization leaders are kicking off a major Youth Membership Drive during its Holiday meeting on December 12th, in an effort to involve area youths in furthering the groups cause. Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente is also lending his voice to the movement to boost membership. Picente is urging local youths from all backgrounds to attend the upcoming meeting to learn more about the NAACP.

NAACP President Deitra Harvey said, "The battle to ensure that all people are treated with dignity and that they have their rights respected is the most important challenge facing this or any community, and we want our young people to join us as partners in this effort." The youth membership drive gets off the ground during the Holiday Meeting on Monday, December 12th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Loretto Center on Kemble Street in Utica. To find out how you can join the group's cause, contact Darlene Mack-Brown at (315) 733-2069. Also, parents are encouraged to attend the meeting with interested youths.
