New Hartford, NY (WIBX) - In the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, several gun retailers are removing firearms from their shelves.

According to MSN, among the stores are Wal-Mart and Dick's, who have pulled certain rifles out of respect for those killed during the incident.

Locally, an associate at the Dick's Sporting Goods in New Hartford, says the store is complying with the company's nationwide suspension of "modern rifle" sales.

A call to the retailer's corporate office for a comment has yet to be returned.
