Utica, NY (WIBX) - The numbers are finally in, and United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica area is celebrating a remarkable feat. The non-profit group raised $2.43 million dollars during its 2011-2012 campaign drive! Of course as in year's past, companies and individuals who raised the most money received awards and special recognition during United Way's campaign finale celebration last week.

And the winners are:

COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

Presented in three categories based on company size (100+ employees, 50-99 employees, under 50 employees). To qualify for the award, 50% of employees must donate to the company campaign and per capita giving must average $50 or more.

  • Small Business: Bank of Utica
  • Medium Business: Carbone Honda
  • Large Business: The Fountainhead Group

MOST IMPROVED CAMPAIGN

Presented to a company that shows an increase of 20% or more in company campaign dollars raised.

  • Home Care Services of Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare

LABOR UNION AWARD

Presented to the labor union with outstanding service to their community

  • IBEW Local 43

LIVE UNITED CAMPAIGN COORDINATOR OF THE YEAR

Presented to the Campaign Coordinators who best show their employees how to LIVE UNITED by giving, advocating and volunteering in our community.

  • Mr. Jerry Plows, FSLHC

SPEAKER OF THE YEAR

  • Mr. Wayne Baran, Boys and Girls Club of the Mohawk Valley

VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR
