Utica, NY (WIBX) - Does your program target Health, Education, or Financial Self-Sufficiency causes in the community? If so, you could qualify for one of the micro-grants being offered by a local non-profit group.

The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area is accepting applications for its Community Empowerment Grants program. Organizations found to be making a positive impact in any of the target areas, can get up to $5,000 in grant money to help further its cause. Those interested are asked to contact the United Way at (315) 733-4691, ext. 240 first, to see if they qualify. The deadline is October 10.

Applicants must be cleared before applying to confirm that the program/project/purpose falls within the scope of United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area's Community Empowerment Grants. Notifications for submitting a proposal must be in before September 28, 2012. The Community Empowerment applications are due to United Way by 12:00 p.m. on October 10, 2012.
