Utica, NY (WIBX) -In the wake of national sex abuse allegations at Penn State and Syracuse University, our local YWCA wants to remind area residents that there's a 24-hour crisis hotline available to victims of both domestic and sexual violence.

Rosemary Vennero has been with the YWCA for more than 20 years, she's currently the non-residential crisis service director. "The importance for that phone call is that you have someone there to hear what you're feeling, listen to you, give you some resources, tell you about the other services we provide that could be of help to you", said Vennero.

The crisis hotline for Oneida County is 797-7740 and the sexual violence hotline in Herkimer County is 866-4120, both numbers will be answered by trained councilors 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
